Contract Windows Server Engineer

New contract role with leading international financial services group for a Windows Server Support Engineer to take responsible for day-to-day maintenance of server hardware and server applications. This is a contract role which is likely to lead to a longer term opportunity with this highly regarded IT unit. You will be working as part of a dedicated support group administering Windows 2000/2003 server, Active Directory, VMware, Citrix, Exchange, IIS, FTP etc

Role / opportunity:

  • Support and maintenance of physical Servers HW and Applications
  • Upgrading and patching of Hardware and Software
  • Administration of Windows 2000/2003 server
  • Technical environment; Active Directory, VMware, Citrix, Exchange, IIS, FTP
  • Dealing with basic networking issues
  • Documenting technical issues and processes
  • Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery planning

Skills / experience:

  • 5+ years commercial experience supporting Intel server hardware
  • Strong Windows Server operating systems experience (Windows 2000/2003)
  • String skills with DHCP, DNS, WINS, Group Policy, Sites + Services , Replication, Domains and Trusts
  • Experience with VMware, Exchange server 2003, Clustering, Citrix
  • Basic Networking skills of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP
