A Limerick based innovative software and integration Technology Company requires a Database Administrator.

The Release Engineering Database Administrator will serve as part of our Data Center Operations team in ensuring the stability, accessibility and scalability of our database platforms serving as the engine for our SaaS ecommerce solutions. They are seeking an individual with at least one year of experience with database administration who is ready to take on greater challenges and solve problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a Release Engineering Database Administrator, you will play an important role in the following:

  • Day-to-day performance and availability monitoring primarily of internal environments (development, staging and QA)
  • Deployment of TSQL changes created by developers in support of our code release process
  • Automation of TSQL release code testing and deployment
  • Instance installation and upgrades
  • Database/server planning, design, and implementation
  • Updates and improvements to existing systems
  • Review and implementation of alternative solutions and designs, third party tools, etc. to solve the problems at hand
  • Establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization
  • Replication monitoring
  • Production systems support after hours in an on-call rotation

Required Skills

• Requires BS degree computer science or equivalent work experience.
• At least 1 year of database administration experience on a MS SQL Server platform (2000/2005/2008)

Additionally, we are seeking a good combination of the following:

  • Experience identifying performance issues, optimizing stored procedures, views, indexes, triggers, etc.
  • Knowledge of database administration, programming and systems analysis procedures.
  • Experience with SQL Server third party tools
  • Knowledge of Database HA and DR concepts. (Clustering, Replication, Mirroring)
  • Experience in a 24×7 environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process
