Java Software Engineer - Application Support
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a Java developer looking for a new challenge or an Application Support Engineer with a Java background to work in a challenging and dynamic environment. Working for this long established and secure insurance organization you will be interacting heavily with external third party software vendors to resolve technical incidents and complete system enhancements.

Role / opportunity:
• Assessing software production incidents, ensuring that issues are fully assessed and resolved through either internal development or external software providers.
• Assess, plan and implement production support requests in a complex technical environment
• Work with multiple internal and external services providers to ensure service excellence
• Deliver IT Service improvement programmes for maintaining and enhancing service excellence
• Ensure the IT application support performs at the highest level of service
• Ensure that applications support is provided to resolve problems in a timely manner
• Test and support the introduction of new services
• Work closely with ICT Projects & Risk / Strategy Teams

Skills / experience:
• 4+ years experience of multiple programming languages (OO), systems, systems design and software development methodologies
• 3+ years Java EE/J2EE experience including: J2EE, Spring dependency injection, Spring Web Flow, Spring MVC, Hibernate, POJO’s
• Web development skills including JSP, JQuery, Scriptilicious and Ajax.
• Experience with the following: IIS, JC Connect, Tomcat, SQL, Mule, SOAP and TCP.
• Experience in projects though which multiple systems are integrated, including design and implementation of high-level and detailed project plans
