Network and Security Engineer
Working with a leading international financial services company as part of an experienced team this role will offer you the chance to further your career and have an influence on key technical decisions within an open minded company that strive to deliver the best possible IT service to the business.
This role is split between day to day support and working on major projects of system enhancement, upgrades and improvements to production environments.
Role / opportunity:
- Working on Network and Security Projects
- Handling support tickets
- Prioritisation of tasks to be completed
- Improving network performance
- Having an input into technical decisions and strategy
- Proposing network designs
- prioritization of activities
- Configuring switches, resolving network issues improving security and much more
Skills / experience:
- 5+ years commercial experience
- Strong understanding of networking protocols; multicast (PIM, IGMP), BGP, STP, WAN protocols, network hardware and the underlying protocols and concepts that underpin network services.
- Experience of supporting large Enterprise networks.
- Knowledge of Information Security practices, TCP/IP, operating system theory, distributed computing concepts (i.e. DNS, NFS), web based application architectures and traditional application architectures.
- Experience with: Network protocol analysis in IP environment (i.e. snoop or tcpdump), Building and managing Firewalls. IPSEC and/or SSL Virtual Private Networks, Authentication and Authorization systems management.
