Senior Senior Java Engineer

In this role you will be working with both Java and a proprietary OO language which will take up to 2 years to learn so you need to be able to tolerate being uncomfortable and challenged continuously. This group deal with some really difficult and testing problems which require some head scratching and serious thinking for even the most experienced engineers.

Role / opportunity:
• Senior Java Developer
• Working with new Object Oriented design and development objects and language
• Work with a technology so challenging you can’t let go
• Metadata- based frameworks
• Implementing your own application server
• Writing an in-memory transactional database
• Making a framework which hundreds of developers use to deliver business applications
• Working with World class developers who enjoy sharing ideas

Skills / experience:
• 8+ years commercial Java development
• Experience with Spring, Eclipse, junit, SQL, XML
• It would be advantageous to have; MySQL, JVM scalability, Transaction Processing Systems, Language Design
• Fluency on more than one verbal language can be advantageous but not a pre-requisite

Personal characteristics:
Strong verbal and written communicator, comfortable being out of your depth and learning continuously, to be understated and interested in the achievements of the team. Something that really stands out in the development team is the desire to share ideas and be willing to listen to all points of view since many of the challenges that arise will not be solved by one individual.
