Senior Oracle DBA

Excellent new permanent position for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with Oracle 9i, 10g and people leadership experience.

Working with this international company in a leading position within the IT team this role will offer the chance to remain technical while also working at a management level and be mentoring and guiding Oracle engineers.

You will lead from the front as a Senior DBA support for Oracle pre-production environments and expert advice and assistance to Development & Test teams in DBMS design and architecture configuration issues

Role / opportunity

  • Oracle DBA of Oracle 9i, 10g
  • Oracle Database & Application Server support for pre-production environments
  • Ensure security standards are being adhered to
  • Working closely with internal development and test teams
  • Control software release and database refresh
  • Drive coding standards and best practices along with development teams
  • Manage performance, resilience characteristics and inter-dependencies of systems
  • Performance and tuning
  • Problem solving and building prototypes
  • Work with development teams with logical design of application schemas
  • Understand and contribute to the over all application architecture

Skills / experience:

  • 8+ years Senior Oracle DBA experience (Oracle 9i, 10g)
  • Team lead experience
  • 3+ years experience of Oracle Application Server 9i, 10g
  • Extensive experience of supporting database systems on Unix technical platforms
  • Expert understanding of database architecture, design and operations
  • Strong understanding of DBMS theory that can be applied to all DBMS platforms
