As the Advisory Database Developer you will Evaluate, design, implement and maintain database applications using Microsoft SQL Server. Involved with design reviews, systems testing and data modeling on complex projects. May assist in performing on-site client work. As advisory level, has very high level of technical and product knowledge and is able to operate unsupervised across multiple environments and platforms. May function as team leader or assume project management responsibilities in supervisor’s absence. Usually reports to the Database Development Manager or to higher level management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs highly complex database design and development activities which may require extensive research and analysis:
  • Performs design, implementation and maintenance of highly complex, multiple product modules/sub-systems.
  • Involved with design reviews, systems testing and data modeling on complex projects.
  • Participates in product design meetings.
  • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products:
  • Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems.
  • Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.
  • May assist in performing on-site client work on highly complex database applications.
  • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

Required Skills:

Advanced technical knowledge in database development methodologies, design and implementation using Microsoft SQL Server. Expert analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level. In-depth experience in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. Excellent understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. Recognized reference and central point for technical issues across groups and products. Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Advanced PC skills.

Requires 7 to 10 years of experience in database design, development and support with Microsoft SQL Server.
