SQL Server DBA / developer SQL Server 2005/2008, SSIS, T-SQL, data migration, XML, SQL 2008 mirroring.

Immediate contract role for an experienced SQL Server DBA with development and scripting skills to take on project role not a production role where much of the database design is completed and now it is tweaking, performance optimisation, data migration, supporting the development teams.

Technical skills:

  • SQL Server 2005/2008
  • SSIS + C#
  • DTS package analysis (preferably using JScript as scripting language) and migration to SSIS
  • SQL, T-SQL
  • SQL 2008 mirroring
  • SQL XML (configuration and deployment)
  • Knowledge of ORM systems (NHibernate)

Experience:

  • Full lifecycle experience of the system and application development process
  • Programming experience (C#) advantageous
  • Database design and development experience
  • DB troubleshooting and performance optimisation
  • DB migration and consolidation
  • Data analysis and migration
  • DB administration, maintenance planning, disaster recovery

The opportunity is to work with a small team that is upgrading the client web content management system - CMS. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the right skills and experience and is a self-starter able to manage their own time and work within a small software development team (C#, MS Visual Studio, SQL 2008).

Key responsibilities will be to take ownership of the existing database design, the data migration process, refactoring the database as required to support the CMS development and implementation.
